Act 2 Scene 2: Discuss Relationship between Romeo and Juliet
I find it very irrational that Romeo and Juliet get married not even a day after they meet. For instance, Romeo claims he is madly in love with Rosaline before he meets Juliet, and when Benvolio says Romeo should forget Rosaline, Romeo declares, "Thou canst not teach me to forget." This means he can not forget Rosaline because she owns his heart and he is supposedly in love with her. Romeo exclaims he loves Rosaline then later that day he says he loves Juliet, doesn't that seem a little weird? Also, they just saw each other and knew all of a sudden that they were in love. To me, their relationship is solely based on physical attraction.

I totally agree with this, it is a very true way to look at their relationship.
ReplyDeleteI like how you added a quote in it.
ReplyDeleteYou told us a side of the audience's point of view that no one knows about. Most people find it sweet and heartwarming, but most don't realize how this sudden marriage actually is.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your ideas.
