Skate

Love is like skating
Sometimes you tumble
Sometimes you land the trick
You always keep trying
Always chase after it
No matter what
Nothing will stop you from getting love
You’ll end up falling in love sooner or later
You’re not too expensive not too cheap
Your whole life will change because of love and new things will happen

It will take some time to get used to you but eventually everything will work out
Not everyone is picky but I decided to choose you
You will do anything to achieve love even if it means you’ll get hurt every now and then

People got me questioning why is it hard to achieve love
Is it because we aren’t confident in ourselves?

Love can hurt you even though you tried and you tried
Love can ruin your days
In many ways

But you will always get back up and try again
Love isn’t as simple as it is but it will be later on
Love is everywhere but be wise in your choices
Love can change your emotions faster than you can blink

Some love could be good or bad for you
You look at every detail and you suddenly fall in love with them
The thrill of having love is the feeling when you’re riding a rollercoaster, it either goes slow, fast, uphill, or downhill
You never know where it’s gonna take you

A Moment

He Swung
This time not at the wall with the hole already

This time it was his pleading wife
Telling him to stop, “don’t lay a finger on me”
Her screams were like sirens
Except they weren’t the sirens from a cop

As soon as his fist touched her face
He didn’t stop until
Until she was on her knees cupping her face

The living room was filled with cries and screams
Her tears were enough to end a drought
Her husband has left another hole

In the corner is just a young girl
Looking at her weeping mom
Slightly glancing at her alcoholic dad
Trying to comprehend but too young to understand
She runs to her room confused
In tears
There was no comfort in that moment

No sirens are heard
No one is being saved
No one is being arrested

The living room is dead silent
The wife has no more tears to shed
She is sitting alone now
Her mind wanders on just what happened
Her daughter is asleep
She sleeps on the thought
On the thought that she’ll never see her daddy again
As for her father
He left

The Racist Effect

The Racist Effect
By Erick Sandoval

All of these people talking and being racist
They think they’re so cool but they won’t say it to our faces
People thinking they are superior because of their skin color
Well all I hear is bullshit because we are all the same
In our own declaration it states we are all born equal
Y’all check again because what they’re saying shouldn’t be legal

You make us hurt more than stubbing your toe
It is sad how it’s almost as common as a TV show
We see police officers use force against minorities
How can this be happening within our own authorities
You people inhale oxygen but exhale prejudice
We should all spread love not create a nemesis

I see all that’s going on and just ask how
People are just crushing our emotions as if they had a snow plow
I just watch and ask myself how is this a reality
The fact that we are fighting each other is all a big tragedy
This is not the way life has to be
We can all just live together happily

But no
Too many people saying we are irrelevant
Saying that we are not white so we are not intelligent
Shots fired at us for reaching into our pocket
It is so damn powerful it’s as if they almost shoot a rocket
So silly how they say we are bad because our name might not be Billy and we like chili and cross the border all willy nilly

They say other races are not pretty
That our lifestyles are shitty
And when they see us on the street all they think is that we are a pity
Are you kidding me, our basic rights are being taken away
Making people want to slowly fade away
It is like a nightmare repeating itself every day

Calling police when you see us because you are afraid of being abducted
But if you see, minorities are the reason this country was constructed
How about you all just quit and make your life productive

Love and Peace is what makes this world great
But all I see people just distributing hate
We need to discontinue this before it spreads at a high rate
People are giving racism to people like serving food on a plate
You can’t just show love for your own race
Because it only leaves space to discriminate

And that just produces hate for everyone else to taste

baseball

Baseball
Conner Kendall

Baseball made me who I am.
If you love baseball, you know what I’m talking about.
If you are like “huh?” let me explain
T-ball started it all; it’s where I met my first friends
I was an outsider, nobody knew me
I recognized kids from my kindergarten and we started to talk
I played through the outfield, the outskirts, the outside of the group;
I kept dropping the ball and throwing short.
I couldn’t throw:

devastated. I just wanted to give up
My dad put an arm around my shoulders:  “Conner, you’re no quitter.”
He gave me a lefty glove and said “Now throw.” So I did.
The ball floated into place, and so did I.
I’m a lefty.
I found my place at first base;
I was a part of the machine and synchronized with my team.

The next year was a new game and a new face
At school: I stayed away from the new kid
On the field: he looked like I did.
I saw that face looking for a place
We became friends and still are
Baseball teaches empathy; everyone starts somewhere; everyone has a part to play.
If you see a person just starting out, remember you were in that position.
You’ve played that base, you’ve needed a place.
If I had given up then, I wouldn’t have my friends
As I got older the game got competitive.
I wasn’t on a team with my friends
it let me meet new people
Plus I would still see them
When you play no one wins or loses; you learn how from what you’ve done.
My friends, my attitude, and bonding with my dad all came through baseball
Baseball made me who I am.

Difference

We were told that all man and women are created equal.
There is a difference between wealth and poor.
There is a difference between white and black.
Still, there are slavery in Africa, or Cuba, or Asia.
Children are driving from their home - that's called child labor
Adults were kidnapped and forced to work in hard labor - that's called labor slavery
Women are being trapped to force doing sex - that's called sex slavery
Where is the equality here among us on this earth?
The whites are on the top of the social pyramids,
and all of others has to look them like that.
We are being determined who we are by races, by the color of our skin
If you are black then you must be a criminal;
If you are Asian then you must be the one taking away our jobs;
If you are whites then you must be wealth and full of knowledge.
We as human shouldn’t be judged by the color of our skin,
We can’t be judge by what kind of chromosomes we have.
Our chances and success are being taken away or blocked by the color of our skin,
Our success always being blocked by the invisible ceiling above our head.
And all of us, all of us had try really really really hard to our goal
But the color of our skin stopped us from doing it.
Our goal, our dream, our life were drowned in the deep ocean of color.
Why can’t we human on the earth,
Treat each other with no difference,
The color of your skin does not determine who you are,
The color of your skin shouldn't be the obstacle in your life.

The color of your skin does not make your life.

Superannuation

If we are all truly equal
Why am I prevented from
Speaking my mind
But with others
It's considered a right?
Am I not human?

If we are all truly equal
Where are my rights now?
If they can be taken away
They're privileges
That I don't have
Am I not human?

"You are the future"
Is their common refrain
But is their idea
Of the future really
As trammeled as us?

If we are all truly equal
Why are my rights expendable
And yours are sacred?
Why is there imbalance?
Am I not human?

If we are all truly equal
Why are we treated as children
And then expected
To behave like adults?
Are we not human?

just keep running

just keep runningImage result for cross country
Sometimes a race is the same as love

You’re nervous at first
And you have a lot of competitors
And you wanna skip it

And relax in bed
But you end up doing it anyway
When the gun shoots
You run your heart out
You can ether give up
Or keep going
But you keep going
Even though your face cries with sweat
You try your best for love

Your trial might get dusty
You might trip or fall
But whatever you do just keep running
Later on
You might find a rival that is pushing you
Trying to make you lose
But just keep running
When you cross the finish line
And you feel like you might puke
Nothing seems better to you now
then to sleep
When everyone is done and they announce the places
You either did not win or you did but no matter what
Just keep running
