a feeling we've forgotten

It’s the one thing that we have been taught to do throughout our entire lives,
It’s said to be the greatest feeling
The face of everything
Exactly the thing we need in our dark times
It’s what you remember feeling from so many different times
In your life

Like when your mom held you as a baby
when you get a hug from a friend
when someone you don’t even know
does something nice for you

The taste of your favorite food
Seeing laughter in other people’s faces

It’s what brings us together
yet often it’s also what tears us apart
It’s ever-changing
And no one really knows exactly what it means

We try to bring it out in other people
yet still get caught up in our differences too much
to just love

It’s the only thing that can put the biggest smile on your face
yet make you cry at the same time

We need to experience more of the feeling behind a hug, a kiss, a high five
behind the “you look nice” or “great job”
you heard today
Giving gifts and making people smile

The feeling you get when you hear your favorite song
That one you really connect to
The sip of hot tea on a cold day

It's in everything you do
whether you realize it or not.

hands, heart, love

  1. This poem is very interesting, and I really like how it explains that we all take so many things for granted, such as the emotions we feel everyday, and soon after forget about.

  7. I loved this poem. It really made me stop and consider the love in all of the actions I have done/seen today. As I was reading your poem, I felt very warm and happy. You also made me want to hug someone...
