Sitting in the classroom
Where it’s dead silent
Like a night in the woods
The chairs are screaming
The lights are beaming
And the young beings are waiting for the lesson to start
When the patient eyes dart
And the teacher appears and begins her part
You listen and you wonder
And you hear and you ponder
How one could hire
Such a failure and not fire
Such a liar
Who’s not teaching the curriculum
To the next generation
Which shows the ignorance
That this person has
Who doesn’t realize the significance
Of ignoring the fact that
The future depends on these people
To give proper instruction to their pupils.
Why are they here?
Think the frustrated peers
Have they failed in life?
Seems like it, because we aren’t learning shite!
We’d rather be outside, flying a kite,
Even if it gets us a bad job, despite
Our Bills,
Our Taxes,
Our Insurance,
Our Rent,
And having our lives become bent
Great poem! I really like how in the end of the poem you compared what is happening with bad teachers to what will happen later in life. I really think that this is a really important aspect of it.
ReplyDeleteNice job! I love how you made it relatable to all students and address true issues like not being taught how to pay rent and taxes! I also love the metaphors and personification, it really brings the classroom to life.
ReplyDeleteI like how the poem relates to other people, and how it shows that it is just not one person but many. The rhyme and metaphors give life to the poem.
